Just a Little More Information for You.

I want to take a minute to provide a further explanation about my writing services.

* I am a writer, not a designer.

Just to be clear, I write online and offline legal content and fitness content. That means I write the stuff that goes on your website and in your emails, eBooks, blogs, and newsletters etc.  I do not design them.

For blogs, newsletters and emails, I will send you the text in a Microsoft Word document that you can then post to your website or insert into your newsletter or email campaign template.

For web pages, I will send the wording to you in a Microsoft Word document that uses screenshots if necessary. The document will follow the setup and format of your current web page and will clearly describe what should be deleted and where all new text should go.

For eBooks, if I cannot work within a template that you provide, I will send the copy to you in a Microsoft Word document (with a table of contents and appropriately divided into chapters etc.) that you can then insert into your eBook template.

* I am a content writer, not a copywriter.

Copywriters are the people who write “copy that converts!!” They are essentially sales writers who promise to “increase your leads by 100 gazzillion percent!” and to write “copy guaranteed drive traffic to your website!” or “through the roof!!” —or whatever.

That’s not me.

I’m a content writer.  I write all “About” you and your business.

The purpose of my writing is to get your message out there to your potential clients, in an SEO-optimized/SEO-friendly way. I do my very best to write quality content that organically helps you to rank in Google searches.

The purpose of my writing is to educate and entertain your prospective clients so they will get to know, like, and trust you. And to get them to stick around on your website long enough to do just that.

I try to get people to actually read.

Not an easy thing to do, I assure you.

* I am a writer. I am not a marketing firm or agency.

All blogs, web pages, and online content is SEO optimized and uses keywords (with long tails or with no tails at all) in an appropriate way. Meaning, that I do not claim to be an SEO agency or expert, so I will not make false promises to you regarding SEO. I don’t waste my time and your money trying to game the system.

I do what I do best: I write high-quality content.

Because that is what is going to help establish your expertise, increase your search ratings organically, and attract clients to you.

I am not a marketing agency or firm. I do not design your website for SEO, create your online marketing strategy, or hook you up with paid ads or PPC, run analytics, or any of that.

I do, however, provide a critical piece of your online marketing strategy: writing quality content.

Ask any SEO guru or online marketing agent, and they will tell you that quality content is your best SEO strategy, because that is what Google is looking for.

Even if you are working with a marketing agency, there is no reason why you need to pay their “team” of (mostly) non-attorney writers to write your content. You can absolutely hire your own writer to write your law firm content for you. And you can still have your marketing firm do all the other stuff they promise they will do to boost your ratings, increase traffic to your site, and have clients pounding down your door. They may not like it, but you will have the best of both worlds: well-written, quality content for your website, and their marketing expertise.

Because I am not a legal marketing agency, I am not looking to crank out low-quality blogs as fast as possible for as may people as possible. My focus is providing quality work for select clients.

I focus on the substantive correctness and quality of whatever I am writing.

I focus on writing engaging and thought-provoking headlines.

I focus on writing quality content that your clients will read and will find helpful.

I focus on linking to reliable sources.

That makes a far superior written product. One that naturally and organically optimizes the content for SEO.

* I follow the rules — Google’s and the State Bar’s.

Not that I run around singing “I got Algor…ithims!” or anything, but I do keep up with Google’s Algorithim. And while it is ever-changing, one thing remains constant: Sales-y, meaningless, thin content does not rank.

Only quality content ranks with Google.

I am also keenly aware that attorneys have ethical obligations when it comes to advertising. I am also aware that each State Bar has its own rules on this. Because it is important to me (as it is to you) that all legal content I write complies with the Bar’s rules on advertising, I research and familiarize myself with the rules of any State that my content will be published in.

* The ghostwriting I provide is not for book writing and publishing purposes.

I mention this on my Writing Services page, but it bears repeating. I am not the type of ghostwriter that writes books for publication.

I’m just your average law blog, legal article, legal content, white paper, eBook kinda girl. Sorry.

* The editing and proofreading services I provide are not meant for book formatting or editing manuscripts for publication.

See above.

I have experience as a professional proofreader and editor, but for marketing materials — not book manuscripts. Book editing and proofreading is a world unto itself. Check out the Book Butchers website for a clearer understanding of what book editors/publishers do.

Then come back here.

You will understand better that what I do is business writing, editing and proofreading.

* Who owns the copyright to blogs or articles, etc.?

Just as soon as I get paid, you do.

* What about changes?

As I mention elsewhere, my approach when it comes to changes is that we are all reasonable adults here. So, the operative approach when it comes to changes is that we should all be “reasonable.” I should be reasonable, you should be reasonable, and the changes you ask for should be reasonable.

That said, I edit everything I write several times before I send it to you for your approval. But I still expect that you are going to want to see some changes. So I factor into the price 1 round of changes for simple projects like blogs, and at least 2 rounds of changes for more complicated projects.

*Will there be a Contract?

You betcha.

Complete with legalease and a COVID-19 pandemic force majeure clause. (Only kidding. Or, maybe not.)

If we decide to work together, I will provide you with more detail about the process and deadlines and what information I will need from you. I will also send you a contract that describes in detail what we have agreed to.  Once we sign that, we spit on our hands and shake on it. Then I get to work.

* What’s the Payment Schedule?

For the one-time Quick Start Blogs you pay up-front.

For monthly blogging services, we generally get started with a retainer and you pay the remaining amount after I send you the finalized blogs.

For proofreading and editing and all other writing projects (website pages etc.), after we discuss your project in detail, I will provide you a quote. Then we will work out a timeline for payments. It all depends on the project.

* How Much Does it Cost?

Well, while I’m always happy to have you pay me more, right now here’s the prices:

  • 5 Quick Start Blog Package One-time Price of : $ 375.00.

  • Monthly Blogging (8 blogs) $ 1,800.00.

  • Monthly Minimum Blogs (5 blogs) $ 1,125.00.

The cost of Proofreading, Editing and all other writing projects depends entirely on the scope of the project. So please contact me with details and I’ll get back to you with a quote.

 I hope that this additional information is helpful. If you’re still with me, let me know if you have other questions. And even better, let me know what I can write for you!
