Monthly Minimum Blogging (5 Blog Posts)
Monthly Minimum Blogging (5 Blog Posts)
For those who want blogging but need a more affordable option, I provide 5 blog posts per month.
When it comes to blogging, quantity isn’t as important as consistency. With the Monthly Minimum option, you get affordability without having to sacrifice quality or consistency.
Here’s how it works:
Step 1:
We will generally have an initial phone conversation to see if we suit and want to work together.
If we agree to work together, we will sign a simple contract. Then I will spend time (by phone or zoom) to find out more about you, your business, and what topics you would like to see on your blog. Getting the blogs (or other content) right for you requires cooperation and communication on both sides. I understand that everyone is busy, but this initial investment of time to get to know each other and to clarify what you want from your content is very important. (I’m working on my psychic abilities, but so far, I can’t read minds. So we gotta talk.) Clients are asked to provide me with resources and ideas as well as writing samples, so that I can do my best to write topics you want to see on your blog and write them in a style that is as close as possible to your unique voice.
Step 2:
We start by my writing a customized Call to Action. The customized Call to Action will go at the end of each one of your blog posts.
I will draft a Call to Action and send it to you. Your clear feedback is key to helping me get the right tone and feeling for this as well as all of your content. So, after I send the Call to Action to you, we will discuss (by phone or email) and if necessary, I will revise and re-send it. Generally, one round of minor revisions is all that is necessary. (*As with changes (see the note below) the operative approach here is one of reasonableness.)
Step 3:
I research and send 5 proposed blog topics to you. These will be in the form of blog post titles. So, for example, a topic might be proposed as: “4 Foods To Avoid to Lose Weight.” Or, “Is Bankruptcy the Right Choice for You? Here’s How to Tell.”
The blog titles are generally fairly broad.
You review and approve the blog titles. Again, if changes are needed, we can discuss.
Step 4:
We finalize the blog post topics/titles.
Step 5:
I research and write the 5 blog posts.
Step 6:
Blog posts are sent to you. Here is where your input is key. Because I want to provide you with quality blog posts, it is important that you review all the posts and that you give me constructive feedback on what is and what is not working for you and why. The clearer you can be, the better. The goal here is for you to let me know what works, and what you think needs to be changed or improved (keeping in mind that blog posts are not articles). Again, providing me with resources or examples goes a long way towards clarifying for both of us what you are looking for your blog posts to sound like and do for your website. After your review, we discuss whether changes are necessary.
Step 7:
If simple/reasonable changes need to be made, I will do that, and then will send the 5 blog posts to you in final form.
And that’s it. Then we do it all again the next month.
* A word about changes. I write the posts, but you own them. So if you want to put a comma here or a period there, or use a different word, you can always make those changes. (Although I can’t stop you, I strongly prefer that you do not change it to make grammatical errors.) In fact, I expect you to review and make little changes to the posts. Especially with law blogs. Because you are the one practicing in your area of law, it is important that you take the time to review all posts. That said, if for any reason substantive changes need to be made, I need to know about that. And if that’s the case, I will certainly make them. But if you want to go back and forth fighting over whether it should be “this” or “that” or a comma or a colon; no. The operative word here is “reasonable". I’ll make any reasonable changes that are needed.
What’s in a Monthly Minimum Blog Post?
All blog posts are generally somewhere between 200 to 1,200 words and all include:
A snappy/appropriate title
Headings
Subheadings
Outbound Links to reliable sources
Relevant internal links to your website
Relevant keywords (not stuffed)
SEO friendly
Customized Call to Action
1 round of edits
Legal Disclaimer (Law Blogs)
*No images
*No posting
**Please note that blog posts are not articles. Articles are longer, more in-depth pieces that have more developed research and citations. If you are interested in having me write an article for you, please contact me.
What’s the Turnaround Time?
How long it takes from start to finish depends largely on how quickly you review and approve proposed topics and blog posts, but generally, it’s about 2 weeks from proposal to finalizing the blogs.
